Passat B3 2.0L 8v motor into Ghia

just a little update,

i took the starter motor housing to the machine shop today to get some meat lobbed off it so the starter will mesh with the flywheel properly.

also got the gearbox and axles together, wire wheeled the axle tubes and primered them yesterday.

also cut out all the parts for the engine mount too... the rear of a ghia is very weak, so a mount will get welded to the chassis with some box section bolted to the mount on the chassis forks, i'll have to take a pic when ive done it, lol

did the borin stuff that needed doin, like painting the rocker cover, buyin the bolts i need, and cutting some holes in the firewall,

the fuel tank is a bit past it, as its pretty rusty, and been fibreglassed up to stop it leaking, so yesterday i picked up this....



not bad for 85 quid, it was from compbrake, which is across the road from me ye ye

rocker cover on, quite happy with it.






exhaust manifold, i used the flange off the passat manifold and used some random bits of exhaust



carbonfibre backbox thats been sittin outside my parents garage for a few years, i then welded a pipe to it and a matching flange to fit the manifold.





quickly bolted in place






engine mount...




air mass box mount..





gearbox solid mounted and strapped down




ally fuel tank just put in place, i still need to make some mounts for it,





and i made a scooooooop for the duct to force more air to the rad....






thats where i'm up to at the moment. [/img]

Great work mate.. rocker cover looks very shiny how did you do the VW badge on it ?


Keep the work up and the pics coming.. can't be much left to do

cheers guys, i need to sort the wiring, find out which wires i need on the 8v digifant engine loom to put power to the ecu/motor.


the rocker cover, i wire wheeled it, to make it shiny, and then painted it red, then the vw badge and a couple of the ribs, i just sanded the paint off them..... simples

well the engine is out again today, so i can sort the wiring, i've unwrapped all the engine loom, and feeding all the wiries that i dont need out, so i have a neater loom, then re-wrapping it with some special shnizzle that my mate gave me... its fire/heat and wear resistant

thats aboot it for today.
