Hi - apologies for cross posting (old unanswered post now deleted), I am hoping to get some reply to this one
So I have started stripping out my 53 plate Impreza Loom and I have taken all the dash and centre console out entirely, I just need to remove the cross spar and then get the heater out next.
So just to make sure I had not upset anything I thought I'd try and start the car when I stopped for the day and now it won't start (I had disconnected the battery for the operations then re-connected it). I did have to cut 1 cable only which was the one to the round reciever that is in the middle of the dash top, up by the windscreen, however it is only a 2 wire feed and I joined them back up again afterwards. I have disconnected a range of things including the airbag system and all the connections to the heating and to the dashboard and steering column, but not cut anything else.
The issue I have is that the key buttons now don't work - I can turn the key and hear the fuel pump prime, but I can't get the starter motor curcuit to fire. If I turn the key further, nothing happens at all. My M30 keypad is still intact but every button click makes the LED light flicker on it so I guess the original code has been changed (I have the original code stickers) or the alarm system is in a mode not to receive a code.
What I think has happened is that the keys have fallen out of synch with the car (?) The buttons don't lock or unlock the car or do anything any more, and without being able to get the M30 keypad to behave I am a bit stumped.
Can I continue in the removal and then remove the alarm system from the loom later on therefore not having to worry about this at this stage - or basically am I bugg3r3d and I am going to have to get some alarm specialist to charge me a fortune to come to my drive?? I'm a bit down about this whole thing as I was as careful as i could be in the removal - its was all fine before I started.
Any thoughts - advice please
Matt
PS does the dashboard / dials still need to be connected to get the alarm to behave as I have stripped that out too..
PPS - And Yes I will be a persistant RJES customer once this project gets off the ground. |

What's an M30 keypad?
Have you an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser?
If its all aftermarket then do not worry about it as it'll all get stripped out when you do the loom/get it converted. _________________ Think......

HI, the M30 keypad is the standard "override" keypad installed with the Sigma M30 alarm/immobiliser fitted to all (most?) Subarus post 2001-2ish with crypto key systems. It is behind a small hatch by your right knee near the fuseboard if installed.
Its all standard Subaru installed kit, not aftermarket, hence I'm a bit concerned. I've spent several hours on Scoobynet and other forums trying to find relevant info, but as they are all based on keeping a car working, rather than taking one apart, the information doesn't quite line up.
Thanks,
Matt. |

Ok, I didn't know that
Well beyond my knowledge I'm afraid.
Ask me something about a phase one engine
So long as your gonna get Rich to do the loom then just continue with the strip down.
When I first had a go at my loom, engine was fitted and I plugged it all together it didn't run either. Much further down the line when I started the loom properly it all worked out fine. _________________ Think......

No Worries.
I've dropped Richard an email so hopefully he can put my mind at ease.
Cheers

| I removed the entire alarm and keypad system from my 2004 loom, the keypad isn't nessecary for the running of the engine so just strip it out. All i use is the standard imobiliser. |
