Going for economical before getting bored then looking for more power
I will be using the ford starter motor, so slightly more complex, but cant be that hard surely.
Unfortunately I was looking for the lazy way out, thinking someone may be able to tell me what each colour wire does on the VW loom and then where all the sensors on the Ford engine need to go....
Haynes manual required me thinks, ebay time!

hi mate, try looking on a fiesta owners club site, you can usually pick up links for looms etc, ive been on the sierra sites for mine and they have been brilliant, mike.

I used a a little fuse box to link my wires together-I think there was only 6 wires-I'll photo it tonight and post it up for ya. _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com
I need to post some pics soon to see what you think of my engine bars etc, not sure if they are fully up to the job, but I am sure I will get a few opinions
I have used the gearbox mounts as well, so hopefully doubling up the mounts should make it work out well.
Wiring, cooling then test drive time !! oh maybe an exhaust somewhere between. _________________ 1x Type 2 Vw Camper (1972),

Dont suppose anyone is located up near the midlands (Leicester) ish area with an 1800d conversion? would be good to come and picture all the wiring and copy some ideas!
I am sure there were not that many sensors when i removed the engine, they have multiplied....

Yes sorry for thr delay-I get a bit single minded when I work on the van and tend to get lost in my own work but I have taken some pics now so will get up in a min. It raining today down here to so not much work on the van for me today Which is a shame becuse I was hopeing to bleed ther brakes and give her a go!!!! _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com

OK sorry for the delay ended up doing some more work on my van as the weather cleared. Ok the photos didnt come out so well-you cant realy see what colours are what so I have writen them all done. I cant remember exactly what wires are what and some are obviously new wires put in but it may help.
I've used a 6 fuse, fuse box to joint all the cables together and I've marked what each fuse is for so here goes.
Unfortunately I am rubbish at wiring so i am looking to buy the wiring loom from a 1997 ish fiesta diesel, including all the relays etc.
Sounds an expensive way forward but the easiest for me
anyone know of a fiesta being broken up??
Regards

Got myself a 1998 Fiesta diesel to butcher and use as a donor for the wiring loom.....
Good job as well, it appears it does have an ECU! came as a complete shock but I am now happy that i am not going mad and can finally get to chase the wires and get the van closer to being finished! _________________ 1x Type 2 Vw Camper (1972),

Well its running, the cooling system is all connected so i though it would take it for a quick spin around the estate....
Started her up, pulled off the drive very slowly as the brakes haven't been used in a year. Went to accelerate away and oh bugger, forgot the accelerator cable!!
What has everyone else done for the cable? join the original to the ford cable? or had one made up?
Not sure my string from the engine bay, through the van is going to do the trick for much longer!
