Engine Mounts

Hi,

Engines in, but it's mountless! The exhaust side mount is going to be easy enough but I was just wandering what people have done for the 'busy' ancillaries side. Doesn't seem to be much in the way of mount points and I'd rather keep it mounted inline with the exhaust side mount as at present it lines up neatly with the engine cradle points on the chassis legs. Any help and any pics greatly appreciated!

I did a bit of a bodge and ran the mount forward.

It bolts to the engine near the oil filter and then runs forward to near the thermostat where the rubber mount is. A little bit of a bodge but works for now.

cheers seb, do you have any piccies per chance?

I've converted my starter now, as per your instructions. Haven't tried it but it bolts up a beaut! Didn't have much araldite but had some army issue aluminium paste (dated 1989!) which once hardened looks and feels pretty much like metal! And with the earthing problem I seem to remember the starter was earthed on a power steering fluid steel pipe which might be why you were having probs.

I'll go have a look at the mounts now I think!

Everything bolted up nicely in mine, if only the turbo worked. I'm off to bristol tomorrow to pick up anouther one!

If you get really stuck I'm only in cheltenham and keep having to go to bristol thanks to a dodgy turbos.

This is how I've decided to do the mount, its basically sitting where the power steering pump used to. I've cut and welded the original mount so that it bolts up higher, and then used the 5mm power steering bracket and joined it up. On the other side I've used the other two power steering points and the M10 one just below the oil filter. feels dead solid and i've still got a couple of braces to put in.
