right im busy swapping bits over for my engine conversion at the minute and the spigot bearing seems in the centre of the old engine quite well, i was wondering how do you get them out without damaging them? alternatively where do you get new ones from? I know Jks dont seem to list them and neither do GSF.

gsf do them for a few quid - if not try main dealer.
if not put a load of grease inside the bearing so its full up
get a bar exactly the size of the inner of the bearing
smack it Fin hard with a hammer and it should pop out.

I tried the grease packing idea yesterday, used the old input shaft to push down the bore of the bearing, and it worked like a treat! The bearing just popped out!

I still havent bothered taking mine out yet, been distracted by a miriad of other things including starting to do a bit more welding on my 1302s project for the first time in 3 years (striking while the inclination is there and the weather is nice)

I dont have a spare input shaft knocking about so I'll find a bolt out, its nice to know it works fine Happy

I have also since been to vw themselves and they say its about £5-8 i think and was just 2 days to get one in which is good to know also!
