Right,
I have made a few posts already but am now at a point where I really need to get cracking with my project, below is a summary of my plan:
1972 Camper - Mot'd with a 1600 Air Cooled at present
Ford Fiesta 1800D - Engine sat in my garage
Wiring Loom & Ancillaries - In the Camper
Adapter Plate - Purchased off ebay and beleived to be complete
My aim is to have the transplant done and ready to use for a tour around Ireland in May 2009. I have a few evenings per week to have a good stab at it, and dont mind working till Mid-Night in all weather. The Vans on my drive backed up close to the garage to should be too chilly.....
Anyway, the main question is - am I mad in my deadlines considering I will have 2 evenings max per week to work on it?
34 Evenings @ 4 Hrs Average = 136hrs....
I may also get the odd weekend day for good behaviour as well :>
Any advise / thoughts welcome, positive noises more so....
Regards

I think you should get that done in the time.
By the sounds of it you have somewhere to work, you can just nip out and do some for an hour or so. I had the hassle of having to get tools out and put them away, making "just go do an hour" out of the question.

I need a hatch, was planning on making my own but if anyone has one for sale it would be appreciated any time saving is a good thing!! _________________ 1x Type 2 Vw Camper (1972),

Easiest neat way is to chop a hatch out of a T25 and fit that I sliced and diced the T25 hatch to make it fit the space without intruding on the firewall but others have just used the whole thing and encroached on the firewall with no issues.
Originally mine just had a hole big enough to top the oil up, well it was 3 cuts and then the metal bent back.. it was lethal but served a purpose. _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

Any advice on removing the old air cooled engine?? I have removed all the wires, throttle cable, fuel pipe, heat exchanger cables and cut out the engine lid lower section ready to slide the engine out.
However I am not sure i have removing the right 4 bolts, 2 were nuts under the gearbox and the other two ontop were bolts. One 17mm and then other 15mm. One just near the clutch cable and the other was hard to see above the starter. No amount of wiggling will make the engine budge. I can lever a gap between the engine and gearbox at the lower end with a screw driver but its not allowing me to remove the engine still.
Any ideas? I am new to air cooled removal as you can tell.... though have been told the record is 15mins or something mad!
Thanks for any help
Gareth

Get your hands right up above the gearbox, top of the bellhousing, there could be two bolts holding the 'box to the chassis. You have to remove these on a late bus to allow you to drop the engine enough to clear.
They might be a pig to remove _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

Yup, I think so. Just support the box with an axle stand/bricks/cat or summat _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

Also need a new 1800 diesel fiesta engine clutch, cheap suppliers anyone??
