Hello All,

I've a question that I hope someone can answer. First a bit of backround. My van was a 2l A/C t25 bus which I converted to a Subaru powered campervan (see club80-90) going the Rjes bell housing conversion route. Unfortunatly my 2l A/C gear box, I think it is code DK though its hard to see, is broken, 4th gear has teeth broken. To get it fixed by Cog Box is going to cost me in excess of £800 which I do not hav right now, but aim to have done in the not too distant future. Fortunatly for me Pepperami has given me his old box for the price of some cider so now I have a working ABD box (thanks again Pepperami) to use untill I save enough to get my old box fixed. Over the weekend I got my old box out and took the rjes bell off it. Now there are a few differances between the two boxes.
1. The bracket at the back of the box is different, mine has 3 studs holding the bracket to the box, the new one has 4, I don't have the ABD bracket and was wondering if any 4 stud bracket will fit this box and will it fit my chassis?
2. The linkage is different, with the ABD I don't have any of the linkage and it mounts differently to my old box, do I need to replace the whole linkage, or can I just get the last link and mounting parts at the gearbox end and again are all later ones the same?
3. The new box does not have the reversing light switch on it, I guess it was mounted at the other end of the linkage by the gear stick or something? I guess I don't need a reversing light, as there is no law against it as its not on the MOT but I would like it if posible, would it be a hard job to sort?

I have also asked this question on the club 80-90 site so appolgies if your reading this for the second time.

Thanks again,

Jack[/url]

the linkages will be different mate. and the 2 rods arent mix-and-match unfortunately. i had loads of problems with mine because whoever had it before me had cut and welded the gearbox end of an old style shift rod to a new style one... trust me it doesnt work very well!

you'll need both sections of the shift rod from a newer van, all the way from the bottom of the gearstick to the gearbox. the good news is that theyre easer to get than the old air cooled ones, just put a wanted on BrickYard Happy

The ABD is an 094 4 speed from a 1985 --> petrol model. You need to swap the entire shift mechanism from the gear lever to the box as too, and also need the front mount from an 094 4 speed. The parts are not difficult to swap, although seting the linkage up may be. The reversing light is on the box - on the end of the bit which sticks out on the left hand side opposite the shift rod - or at least it should be.

If you swap ABD to DK , and you have to use the old style shift rods , does this mean a bracket has to be fixed in place to hold the front shift rod as it is on the air cooled t25 , which is above the fuel tank.?
