You may already have read the Adventurewagen thread at Shoptalk (if you haven't it's worth every minute of reading).

I have a 72 camper that I converted to a 1997 GM Vortec V6. Engine was originally from a rolled over S10 SS with the OBD2 computer. Engine had 100 miles when I purchaed it. Fuel injection is Central Port Injection (CPI) converted to OBD 1 computer. The trans is an 86 930 with heavy duty 930 Kennedy clutch and same CV's. Exhaust uses stock manifolds with stainless pipes, catalyic converter and custom homemade stainless muffler. Entire exhaust system is mounted to the engine. Radiator is mounted to the front of the bus inside a tubular frame shaped like a spare tire. Lots of plumbing. Heater is underdash unit from a Ford Courier pickup, very compact high btu unit.

50K since converting to the Vortec from a Buick V6. Engine and drive train are bullet proof. The 930 is much better choice because of the frailty of built VW units. Well worth the work to install it.
