Golf gti into 71 bay.

When I fit the golf engine with alternator ,do I need the camper voltage regulator as fitted to the 71 loom.As I'm fitting a new loom to the camper and want to keep it as simple as poss.If I do need the voltage regulator how will it connect to the new stuff .Thanks .

The GTI most likely has an integrated voltage regulator. so you don't need the original regulater.

Jus connect the big wire from the alternator to your battery. that's it.

The alternator also needs a 12v feed, but that is most likely integrated in the GTI loom. If this feed is lacking, the alternator will turn but not start charging.

Check by measuring the voltage when the engine runs. Should be around 14V.

next problem is ecu,how to get around immobiliser,is there a different one I could use or is the only way to have it removed.I didn't get the little black box off the donor car oops,so can't use it. thanks Ian

I would just have it removed. Just 50 euro over here, so 40 britisch pound?

Not sure if my 95 gti mk3 agg engined golf donor car had sensor,I think it did.Because something is stopping it starting and I believe that it won't start without it connected.What can I do to get it running,any help much appreciated.cheers Ian

Or contact that guy Bartek on eBay and get him to de-immobilise you current ECU.

If you look up AFN tuning ECU something like that you'll find the guy. He's based in redhill surrey.
