Hi,
yes I fully intend to elaborate when it's finished.
I'll put it in the completed conversions site, with photos.
I just thought that this information might help bugsy-malone get on and give him some food for thought.
Cheers

yeah, im trying to gather as much info before i start the project (which will be within the next week) so that i dont encounter to many problems, I dont want to end up with a van thats got an engine half installed and running out of time leading up to bugjam.
so far I have a 1600 TD engine from a T25 and an entire gearbox/starter.
my vans currently a 1600 petrol.
originally i was going to run the diesel gearbox and engineer a gearchange thinking that a diesel gearbox would be good for a diesel engine, after some research of gear rartios you`d think vw had designed the diesel box for pulling tanks up mountains!
so the 1600 petrol gearbox seems a more sensible option as that runs nice revs cruising at 55-60.
i understand that the T25 bell housing is a `bolt on` with the exception of starter clearance (not a problem for the grinder!) there is the issue of the hydraulic clutch conversion, ideally i want to keep cable.
unfortunatlly I dont have a turbo
i can see the most part being plain sailing but the gearbox has been a bit of a nightmare, i think the 1600 g/b will be ok with the diesel, then later maybe i`ll do an upgrade! _________________ Second Gear All The Way Baby!

why do you want to keep clutch cable? its fairly easy to convert your pedal and mount the master cylinder so you can run the hydraulic clutch.
One less cable to snap....
Ive got some pics somewhere of mine ill try and find em |

because it costs £70 less to get a master and slave cylinder and have the fun of making up hydraulic pipes and having to run them.
I like original and simple. _________________ Second Gear All The Way Baby!

Hi,
yeah a 1600 petrol box might not be great but it's better than a diesel T25 one.
Bellhousing is just bolt on.
I'm keeping the cable clutch as well, it's dead simple and it's already there. To convert it from hydraulic you will ideally need a 20mm clutch operating shaft and clutch lever, as used on late buses. It remains to be seen how heavy it will be to use!
Cheers

i've got a t25 215mm diesel clutch in my aaz power splitty and it's still on a cable light as a feather in fact it's lighter than the clutch in my 1990 t25 factory 1.6 td with hydraulic clutch! _________________ 1964 rat 13 window deluxe 1Z tdi,
