hi all, got new conduit on, clutch plate free from oil, now engine back in...still crazy judder, though not as bad. kkango told me about the rear(by axle) gearbox mount could be shot, anyone got a picture of one/tell me if it possible to replace by swinging the engine and gearbox forward and down just a tad? also, the front gearbox mounts(by firewall, are these liable to be a problem causing juddering/anyone changed these before? 2ltr bay with 1800 gbox. cheers all.

would you say that ,if it wasnt for having to extend your hanger, it would be changeable with the engine just lowered a few inches or is this an engine out/on the floor job? thanks for input.

think ive sussed out the problem. went under van to have a look at the mounts, all looked/felt fine.noticed my conduit was straight, not how i had left it. i put a couple of washers on to put the bend back in and adjusted it again. pumped the pedal a couple of times and the free play came back. went to back of bus and the conduit was straight again. the bracket which holds the metal tube to the rear axle had torn so pumping the pedal pushed the conduit onto it pushing it toward the front of the van, straightening it out again! im gonna weld a fresh/stronger bracket on in the morning and readjust. the tube down the middle of the van was a bit flappy so ive cable tied this tight to the chasis down the length of the van as this probably wasnt helping either. lets just hope this was the problem, ive been thinking all sorts! cheers for your help.

The conduit holders can wear, which as you've found out, releases it.
That causes a "straight" run which you don't want
To answer your above Q, you'll have to remove the hanger as the bobbins are bolted from the top as well.
You'll have to drop the box a coupla inches.
There's a knack to getting it out.
You remove the lower x-member bolts, slide it to the right, drop out the left side, then slide it out towards the left.
I may have got the direction wrong, you'll suss it if you have to do it though. _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.
