Hi guys,
Im making some progress on my project and have come to fitting the fuel return for my conversion. Im putting a DX gti engine (KJET) into a 68 bay and have at present put a T into the fuel breather on the top of the tank for the return, but im concerned some fuel will just be pumped out the van when its on. So do i need the breather or can i just feed the return into the tank direct with no T and remove the breather pipes completely? what have others done? cheers

Have you got two tank breathers? I know late bays have 2 on top of the tank.
You will need a "free" breather or you might collapse your tank like I did (There's a thread on here somewhere)
You're sucking out fuel - you need to replace it with air _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

hmm on this i have been wondering rather than the breather, what if i t into the supply before the pump and use a non return valve, so any returned fuel goes into the pump again? would this work better?
really really don't want to get this bit wrong, else bye bye bus... |

Maybe a vented fuel cap
Here's what happened to mine.

I think most was done because I'd connected the tank to the Subaru Purge Control without using the Charcoal Can.
BUT, you still have to replace the used fuel _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

Have you seen this thread?: Link to Golf Cache tank thread
It's only 20 euro's for a factory spec (small) cache tank, and you don't have to change your tank out- or inlets.
Once I get my other projects done, I am going to install one of those. _________________ homepage

Don't think this will be a very good idea , may-be the T could be as close to the fuel tank as possible - but still not a good idea ,,,,,,,,,,,, on the offside of the engine bay you'll find a circular cover plate , behind this you should find the fuel filler pipe could you connect into that pipe
just checked your on 68 bay- so might be different because the filler was further forward ( they moved it back LHD sliding door used to hit filler nozzle when fuelling )
how about if you remove the fuel gauge sender and fit a pipe fitting to it _________________ Auto Union Munga Jeep ,T4 2.4td , T4 2.5tdi ,Mercedes S Class on LPG , 66 splity deluxe , GP mk1, 3 type 25s 1 with 1.9dt pug engine + 1 with N/A pug engine ,,there are 6 t25s with pug power in Darlington |

| cheers for the ideas. My engine is now in and im loathed to remove it again and the tank foolishly was nearly full when i started, so removing the tank or any kind of drilling near it is off. i thought it'll be an easy job to tap into the lines but clearly not. so a T near the fuel tank supply is generally agreed to be a bad idea then... cabbie fuel canister thing looks interesting, but i would then need another fuel pump as i understand it. looks quite involved... |

As long as you place the cachetank under the tank, then you don't need another fuel pump. The Golf uses an extra fuel pump because the cachetank is on the side of the tank, so it can't be gravity fed.
Or is the tank in your bus in such a position that you can't place it under the tank? I don't know busses that well.... _________________ homepage

Paste this part-number in google: 533201511A
And you'll find several online shops that sell it.
But I think you can order it at a VW dealership too. _________________ homepage
