1.9 1Y or 1.6td?

Quick question;
I have a type 25 with a 1.9 1Y non turbo engine. It's a bit gutless and I have the chance to buy a 1.6 TD engine. Should I replace the 1Y with the 1.6TD?
OR......should I use the 1.6 parts to turbo the 1Y?

just put the jx outlet-manifold, the turbo and pump on it. also use the jx or aaz fuel injectors. In germany it is a pretty common conversion.

what age is your 1.9 1Y does it have a solenoid on the bottom part of the pump and wires going into the centre were the injector pipes fit the main pump head some people don't wire these up - they tend to adjust the timing so not too lumpy on tickover but not realising its down on power higher up the revs ,,,,,,,,,,

on latter diesels the fuelling screw is wound out to keep the emissions down , you'll find that a half turn in will make a big difference also check to see if your getting full throttle as a few mil makes a big difference

phils right adjust the 1y to make it go better the 1.6td's in good condition are few and far between these days as they were a bit overstrung and used to blow up when they were new the 1y is a better motor have you got a high ratio petrol box with it or a diesel one?
