I'm re-building the back of my van and part of this is re-designing my exhaust system.
I want to use a y piece in the exhaust and was wondering if this is advisable? My exhaust system has never had a y in it and i am concerned that if I put one in the flow of exhaust will favour one side and so only going through half the exhaust system.
Can any one help with any info?

Hi Alex - sonds intriguing what your doing.
Dont think there is a problem with Y piece and yes the pressure will favour one side however as long as theres still flow it wont realy be a problem. Often on twin pipe systems you see balance pipes running from one exhaust to the other near the back box Im pretty sure this is to equalise the exhaust prssure between the two pipes although that is only my own theory rather than one I have read any where! |

I want to reroute the exhaust. At the moment I have it running up and around the gear box-this was to give space to fit loads of silencers but I find that having the box's there makes it quite noise inside the van so I thought by routing it around either side of the engine bay (1 silencer on each side) I could still fit 2 silencers and hopefully keep the noise a bit further away.
I also want to go twin tail pipe as part of the new body mods I'm doing and this seemed like a good way of killing 2 birds with one stone.
I'll post some pics up tonight! Its such a nice day that I'm gonna finish wotk early and get on with some more welding!
Cheers
Chap
